It also gives generous tips on how to keep a consistent tense in our written text and explains how we can use verbs to express tense, voice and mood. Also, we are instructed on how to develop effective writing skills relating to tone, word-choice and their impacts and outlines some golden rules on how to structure our narrative and expository writings. With this book to hand our struggles are all over in terms of how to either format our articles or how to write effective minutes of meetings or even how to incorporate in our letters the sort of content that will produce the most positive impact. Next, it teaches us how to check our written text; making sure that our writing is accurate in terms of spelling, grammar and punctuation. How about the tips on how to effectively read text and optimise marks in our exams based on comprehension? That too is well handled in this book. How about summarising text? Again, this book is superb and in terms of mastering figurative language and how to use phrases and clauses, synonyms and antonyms for effect; this book comes highly recommended. Finally, this book is clearly user friendly as it comes complete with answers to all set exercises so that students can check their progress and teachers can quickly mark set excercises, in addition, there is an appendix which makes cross referencing very easy to do.
